Disney/Pixar's "Wreck It Ralph" crosses movies with video games

"Wreck It Ralph" logo.
The new Disney/Pixar movie Wreck It Ralph is about a fictional arcade game called Fix It Felix. When the antagonist of the game "Wreck It Ralph" (Ralph as everyone in the gaming world calls him) gets tired of being the bad guy of his game. He decides to go what the characters in the movie refer to as "game jumping". There are many gaming characters in the movie such as: Bowser, M. Bison, the orange pac-man ghost (who's name I can never remember), Dr. Eggman, and even Qbert (you know, the orange guy from Qbert? anyone? (i'm a huge nerd incase you haven't noticed)). And even more characters then that.
Ralph has already been incorporated into "Sega All
Star Racing: Transformed".
Sorry but thats all the information I have on this movie. But there is more to come once the movie comes out.
To be continued.

Ralph in his pixelated form.
An observant gamer will notice a few gaming
villain's in this scene.

Retro Review #1: ultimate Spiderman GBA

Before I start this review, let me explain how these reviews work. I created Retro Reviews so everyone will know what Nintendo used to be compared to what it is now. So these reviews will mainly be on games for the Nintendo 64 Super, Nintendo, NES, Gameboy and maybe a Gamecube game here or there. So without further ado, lets begin the review.

OVER ALL RATING 7.0
For a Gameboy game the graphics were
fantastic.

This game - though it may not be a classic - was a very innovative and imaginative game. Having a comic book feel to it, Spiderman A.K.A Peter Parker is in this game is a very young looking guy - though he looks like the last person you would expect to be Spiderman - he has a certain charm that makes him very likable. Maybe it's his hair I don't know. Anyway. Spiderman is not the only playable character. The second is Venom. Venom gameplay is very different from Spiderman Gameplay. Venom gameplay having that monster tearing through the city feeding on people feeling to it, Spiderman gameplay has that trying to take care of crime without killing anyone feel to it. And having those two different gameplay aspects to it make's the game very fun. Though there wasn't really any varying combat style's or even the ability to make combo's, I feel that the basic punching, kicking, and web shooting, suit this game just fine. This game was a big disappointing because there were not any alternate suits, yes I know it's a gameboy game but still I think they could have added one or two alternate suits like the black suit or something like that.
When playing as Venom if you get
an enemy to a low enough health
press the R button to feed on him
and gain more health.
The characters such as Peter Parker and Mary
Jane have a completely different look.

all in all the game was ok not the best Spider man game I have ever played it's fun. Still I would recommend the Gamecube version.

The not so amazing Spiderman

OVER ALL RATING 7.5

The new black suit
Being a huge spider-man fan, I simply had to get The Amazing Spider-man for the Nintendo 3DS. This game is actually the epilogue to the movie so if you want o get the most out of the game I would see the movie first. (I haven't because I am deprived of fun) Even if you don't the story makes sense weather you see the movie first or not. One thing that I was truly disappointed about was the lack of free roaming. (one of the main reasons I bought the game was for the free roaming... and there isn't any!?) So if you want the free roaming aspect of the game buy the PS3 or Xbox version (if you have one) the 3DS game has two alternate suits, the classic Spiderman suit and the black suit. To get the classic suit you must complete all of the petty crimes in the game. Petty crimes are side missions that you can play after you finish the game, you have to do things like defeat all the enemys within a certain time or survive an enemy assault. To unlock the black suit you must complete vigilante mode. Vigilante mode is exclusive to the 3DS it would be fun if it were more like a strategy game. This game is completely based on luck, when you enter a mission you pick weather you will web swing or web rush and other ways of entering the crime scene. Then a bar comes on the screen and all you can do is cross your fingers and hope for the best. There is no real web swinging in most most levels other then the hunter battles and the spider slayer battles which are my favorite kinds of levels.
If you pre-ordered the game you would have gotten
a special Stan Lee suit.

All in all The Amazing Spiderman didn't completely disappoint me. Though vigilante mode needs some work I still recommend it.

The "Rhino" fight was one of the highlights
of the game.

Time to learn with Brain Age!

OVER ALL RATING 8.0

Brain Age is a game that comes with the DSIXL.  It is about learning different skills like
This is a picture of the math skills
section.
math, language, art, drawing and brain skills!
The host of the game is Mr. Iwata's head.  He tells you how to do everything in the game such as when to take a picture or when to draw something!  He also tells you your Brain Age at the end of each section!  This game is not as easy as it sounds.  While the math is pretty easy, what they make you draw seems impossible.  When you have to use the mic on the DSIXL it doesn't work that well, but it works well enough.  Brain Age also has the camera feature, in one of the games it shows you what face to make and you take a picture of yourself making that face!!!  The game also has different modes for some of the skills.  For drawing they have Ancient People, Ancient Civilization,  And Famous Landmarks.  For pictures they have Romance and Modern Day.  Finally, for Brain Skills they have a mode where they show you a list of twenty or more words to remember and then the list is removed and you have to write them all down from memory.  Overall, Brain Age isn't the best game I've ever played, but if you buy a DSIXL I would recommend to take the time to try out Brain Age.

Lego let down

Batman should really pay more attention to his surroundings.

OVER ALL RATING 4.0

Hopefully gameplay with other heroes such as The Flash
and green lantern is better then gameplay with Batman And
Robin.
I found the demo of Lego Batman 2 I played to be somewhat fun and interesting.  From what I saw it had great controls, a great story, and great character design.  Still, it could have been a whole lot better.  There were many flaws. Combat was hard because after every punch Batman (or Robin) would pause for a second before the next punch.  Special attacks were hard to tackle as well, I didn't know which button to press in order to begin an attack.  One thing I think is both good and bad, is the fact that all of the characters talk.  I think that this game would be a complete and total failure if they didn't talk because if they didn't you would have no idea what was happening.  One of the great qualities of the previous lego games that is missing from this game is that the characters were able to let you know you what was happening without saying a word.  The demo I played only allowed me to play as Batman and Robin, so I hope that when the game comes out the gameplay with other super heroes is better.
Batman isn't the only DC super hero
appearing in this game.

The game over all was o.k., I think I'll have to wait until it comes out to determine if I'm going to buy it or not.  So if your not a huge DC super hero fan, you  probably shouldn't get this game.

Rumbling through Pokemon Rumble

Overall rating 7.7

I had never played a Pokemon game until I got the Pokemon Rumble demo for wii I was not expecting it to be very good, I have to say I was impressed.  when you start the game you see a pokemon sneak into the "Battle Royale" (a competition that all the most powerful pokemon enter in) you get to play as that pokemon but he is not powerful enough to win and you have to play levels to unlock better pokemon.  gameplay is fun you follow a path and meet other pokemon along the way when you defeat a powerful pokemon you get to unlock him, each pokemon has one attack and you can spend coins to unlock a second attack, the pokemon are rated on how powerful they are the highest one I encountered was one hundred eight and the lowest twenty three, only pokemon one one hundred can enter the Battle Royale, in the demo once you unlock a pokemon over one hundred the demo ends.  I really liked this game and would recommend it to anyone who likes video games.

Re-living the legend

OVER ALL RATING 9.0

The 3D version of the game
compared to the original version.
Players can also take a break from the action
and do things like fish.
The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time has been part of my life for many many years. So when the remake for the 3DS came out I simply HAD to buy it. The story is exactly the same as before. Ganon pretends to be loyal to the Hylian royal family, he follows Link to the Temple of Time to gain access to the sacred realm, obtains the Triforce of power, and his evil plans are later thwarted by Link and Zelda. There are many things gamers have to be exited about in this game, one of these things is the ability to replay bosses in Links dreams. In the Nintendo 64 version of the game, you can only play the bosses once (for my favorite boss Twinrova, I would get close to winning then die just so I could play them again!) in this game you can go to Links bed in his house and replay boss battles.  Another thing is the playability, players are able to equip 4 (5 including the ocarina) items, were as in the N64 version you can only hold 3 at a time. This makes the dreaded Water Temple so much easier because you can put on the iron boot by equipping it and pressing the button, in the N64 version you have to pause every time you want to put them on. The game also comes with a Master Quest Mode which can be unlocked after finishing the original quest. Side quest's were one of the few things that I was disappointed with. This goes for the N64 version of the game as well. There are only a few side quest's in the game such as getting the biggorons sword, trading mask's, and finding gold skulltula's.

The terrain of hyrule is absolutely spectacular.
All in all the game is just as good as the Nintendo64 version if not better. If you have a 3DS you absolutely need this game.
